IS Ibs even real?
I hear about people experiencing an irritable bowel and then being “diagnosed” with IBS. But to me it seems you are being diagnosed with the very symptoms you have just told your doctor about, and you’re no further forward. IBS is caused by a number of things. It can be an issue with the microbiome due to a poor diet, or the poor foods we have access to. Also the use of certain medications can disrupt our microbiome and leave us unable to digest certain foods. High stress can also contribute to poor gut function.
Two of the main areas we must have functioning well, to ensure good gut health is our bile flow and our stomach acid. If our bile flow is compromised and our stomach acid poor, we will experience many issues down the line. Bile is a substance that’s made in the liver and stored in the gallbladder, it helps with digestive and detoxification processes. In this blog I want to focus on bile production and explore some of the possible symptoms you might see when there is poor bile flow. This is not a diagnosis and it’s likely someone might not have all these symptoms. These are just possible markers. Even if a person is dealing with just one of these it could be worth looking deeper into the bike production.
1. Light coloured stool
Bile is a dark green colour, and it creates the darkness of our still. If someone’s poop is lighter than the colour of cardboard it’s possible there isn’t enough bile production, or it’s too thick and funky to flow.
2. Chronic loose stool (IBS)
When we eat food, the stomach should be acidifying that food, and before it leaves the stomach the bile squirts out and neutralises the acids. This allows the forming stool to move through the intestinal tract at a healthy rate. If there isn’t enough bile to alkalinise that poop it draws a ton of water to cool that @hi@ down, moves through the intestine very quickly to prevent damage and break down of the intestinal tract.
3. Reoccurring Nausea
The liver stores and filters all the toxins and filth, it also puts a lot of that junk into the bile, so the bile can take it out of the body on its journey. But if the bile isn’t flowing the toxins don’t get removed, they stay in the body, reabsorbing into the body, this sends signs of “don’t eat, don’t put anything else in”
4. High blood pressure
Our blood pressure is made up of glucose, proteins, and minerals as well as junk. So often if we have high blood pressure it can be because there is too much junk thickening up the blood density. If we get the bile flowing properly often we see the blood pressure balance out.
5. Low blood pressure
How? This is because the digestive process isn’t working properly, so the healthy meeting of acid and bile creates a really important part of breaking down the food and getting the minerals out of that food. If there is a digestive malfunction there can be a mineral deficiency, leaving blood pressure low.
6. Struggle when you eat fatty foods
Bile is what the body uses to emulsify and break down fats. If the bile isn’t working well it leaves the fats rotting and fermenting and turning toxic!
7. Acne and skin issues
The body starts to try and find other ways to get rid of those toxins, starting to push it out of the skin.
8. Oestrogen raising medication
When these levels go high it seems to thicken up the bile. Also stress in your life may raise oestrogen levels to an unhealthy level.
9. Low saliva PH, below 6.5
Doing this around two hours after a meal is best, this is a sign of an overly toxic system. Super simple to test.
10. Urinalysis dipsticks (urobilinogen or bilirubin above recommended levels) This can be a strong sign that bike is not flowing properly.
